Raducanu made it to the third stage in three out of four Grand Slam events in the current campaign. The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her remaining competitions in 2025 as a result of the illness she has been battling in recent days. At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to regain her health prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season. These plans are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as both individuals will keep partnering for the upcoming season. She underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and withdrew when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day. Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round. Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the third set versus Zhu because of the lower back problem that has troubled her at times this year. Such performances signaled a promising season, in which the player advanced into the top 30 globally for the first time since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats. Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event. She secured 28 victories during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March. As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route then falling in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula. She worked with Mark Petchey as coach between Miami and Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open. The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the collaboration persists, with a training block pencilled in in the coming months. The athlete revealed that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret. She nearly succeeded to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati during August. The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
