A campaign is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The effort aims to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity. A Possibility for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup" Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success. “It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it fails to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.” Defiant Message of Self-Determination Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message. “The song holds a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.” Recording Origins and Featured Artists The single was laid down following a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long. The impressive roster of musicians appearing on Lullaby encompasses a range of well-known figures from the industry. All were part of the September show, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for charitable causes. Creation and Launch Lullaby was brought to life by a team of talented individuals. The track blends a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics. The organizers behind the initiative have clarified that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a charitable pot. These resources will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an established charity. “We don’t have a fixed goal,” a figure said. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Obviously, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.” The reality in the region was described as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be destroyed or damaged. “Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is primarily raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.” The track is launching on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a digital service from mid-December.
