🔗 Share this article Battlefield 6's Relaxed Playlist Ignites Heated Debates Over AI Players, Experience Points, and Wait Times Recently, Battlefield Studios introduced a new playlist titled Relaxed Breakthrough. In essence, this option resembles the regular Breakthrough format but features a few notable changes: Each team has only 8 human participants, with the remaining made up of AI-controlled opponents. Activities performed by human gamers grant full XP, while bot actions offer reduced XP. Just a pair of locations can be played: Cairo Siege and Empire State map. Elements like Player tags, achievements, and stat tracking are disabled. So essentially, the playlist delivers on its title: it's a laid-back version of Breakthrough. At face value, one could assume there's nothing wrong, since it provides more options for gamers seeking alternative ways to have fun with the game. However, if video games have taught us anything, it's that not everyone will be happy. In other words, a lot of BF6 players are upset. Player Responses: From Fury to Praise "People want human opponents. Don't repeat the mistakes of your competitors," reads a response to the mode reveal. "Absolutely shocking concept," says a different user. At the same time, on the Battlefield subreddit, a player notes, "I have no idea where we are headed with this title," while another lists all the issues they believe to be broken in Battlefield 6: "Fix bugs, address drone issues, correct rocket mechanics, adjust aiming after sprinting, fix awful hit registration. We don't need this AI-heavy playlist." On the other hand, amid the criticism, there are players explaining how much they're enjoying the recent addition. "It's very fun to practice, human participants keep it from being a complete grind but it's quite laid-back," reads one Reddit comment. "The community doesn't understand that there are players who actually go outside and don't play this game 24/7. Let them find a middle ground," adds another. One reply via social media explains that as they're "a parent gamer with limited time, this is perfect for me," and another applauds the mode for "not being overcompetitive." Valid Criticisms and Community Feedback All that said, there are valid points to criticize Casual Breakthrough. Some users have pointed out that it could increase queue times more extended for other modes due to the sheer number of playlists in the game already. Similarly, some areas often face AI-filled matches in the existing playlists. It also seems somewhat counterintuitive that the mode won't start without a minimum number of human gamers, despite it focuses mostly on combat against bots. Finally, a major grievances is that Battlefield Portal was promised to offer complete rewards, including AI matches, but that was removed when they attempted to remove bot farms from the mode. So this new playlist seems like the player base meeting them in the middle, according to a Reddit comment. A different user labels this addition as the devs "making a mistake so hard, I had so much fun in the initial release, what prompted them to change it?" Looking Ahead: Will Changes Be Made? If Battlefield Studios has demonstrated something so far with the latest installment, it is that they're paying attention and responding to player input. Assignments that were overly hard got fixed very quickly, as did the specific battle pass objectives. Chances are that, should analytics shows this new playlist is underperforming to their standards, they will not hesitate to make further modifications.
